New England Top 5…
It is really hard to pick 5 things from my trip to New England that I would classify as my favorites, so I am going to post the ones that are definitely the most memorable. I can also say that it is impossible to put them in any sort of order because I loved each one so much!!
1. Watch a Polo Match
As I checked my favorite Trip Advisor for top things to do… “go to a polo match” was one that definitely caught my interest. Go to Newport Polo to find information. It is located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and worth a visit. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, throw in a football, stomp the divots, and dress in a nice casual attire. It was for sure one of my favorite things because it felt like such a local thing to do, and the people watching was amazing!
2. Take a Duck Tour
I love to see the city, and this was a fun way to do it. In Boston we bought tickets at Boston Duck Tours and spent a couple hours learning of the city, and entertaining my kids by riding in a WWII style amphibious landing vehicle. It’s not everyday you can ride in a bus that is also a boat. My kids still talk about it!!
3. Cape Cod
Upon arrival at the Red Jacket Beach Resort in Cape Cod, I felt a little hesitation due to the dated feel of the property. By the time we left, I grew to love the tradition of families, who had visited as children and were now bringing their children. The dated feel became part of the charm, and would give me a desire to return to this special town many more times to come.
4. Freeport Maine
I loved the charm of the town, the people, the LL Bean Flagship Store , and all they did to support the people of Freeport. We walked through the boutiques, ate more scoops of Ben and Jerry’s than we needed, and fell in love with the people. It is close to so many activities and such a fun place to stay!
5. Martha’s Vineyard
You have to go to Martha’s Vineyard. You have heard about it all your life, and honestly you need to see it. We took the ferry which is a fun ride, and rented a jeep upon landing, so we could tour the island on our schedule. Eat at The Black Dog, its yummy! Such a fun day, and the homes and scenery are beautiful!!
6. Honorable Mentions
I am not supposed to have a #6 in a top 5 but…. Go to a Red Sox Game, and eat at Wahlburgers! Seriously I ate 3 meals off the menu because I had to try them, and they were all so good!! And, everyone needs to be in Fenway Park once in their lives!! Seriously, GO!
No matter what you do this summer, go somewhere, and do something, that will give you a Top 5 of your own!
Happy Travels friends,
