Happy 4th Of July From Jen!!!
I remember the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty. I remember being in awe of her beauty, and also was struck by the bold expression on her face. When I look at her, I see a woman who is declaring to the world that we are a free country, and that we will remain that way. She speaks for the thousands of men and women who have laid down their lives in defense of the Country they love, and the Freedom they believe in.
Last year, we were at the Oakley Rodeo in Oakley, UT, and my son had just left for basic training in the Army. I remember my heart being full as the rider carrying the American flag on horseback went flying through the Arena as they played “God Bless America” by Lee Greenwood. I will forever have a greater appreciation for being an American and living free. I have sat with young Moms as they wrestled little children while their husbands were on deployment, and I have spent nights of my own worrying for my Sons safety, and wishing for a phone call.
At Home Celebrations
I love a small town Rodeo and Parade on the 4th, and usually take my family to one to celebrate. AZ is HOT, and makes enjoying being outside a little tricky! This year though, we are home, in AZ. We will hit the pool, eat some food, and celebrate. We will also finish packing because tomorrow we travel to see our Soldier in Alaska. My heart burns with pride for the United States of America. I love this place, I love the way I get to live, and I love the people who surround me. I also love the men and women who continue to sacrifice daily to protect us.
We will never be a perfect Country, but the fact we have the ability to make choices that can change our government and futures is a blessing. I hope however you celebrate today, you take a quick minute to think of all those in harms way so we don’t have to be.
Love you friends,
Happy Independence Day!
One of my Favorite Holidays; Lalani
I have always loved the 4th of July. I love everything about it. I love our country, I love freedom, and I love our system of government. I also love pool parties, BBQ’s and fireworks. Like I said; the Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays…until we moved to Arizona. Now, the Fourth of July is just HOT.
It has now been 12 Fourth of July’s since we moved to Arizona. Most of them have been outside of the state. Don’t get me wrong, other parts of Arizona are great on the 4th. Phoenix is not one of those places. I’ve heard awesome things about Payson, Sedona and Flagstaff on July 4th. We now plan our trips with the intention to be gone on the 4th of July.
4th of July Across America
This year we are leaving for Alaska on the 4th. In hindsight, this was a mistake and we should have left a few days ago. The beauty of leaving home for the 4th of July is that we have celebrated the holiday all across America. We have been to small town parades on the Oregon Coast. My kids have BBQ’d hotdogs in Grand Teton National Park and we have watched fireworks over Dana Point. We love seeing the people, beauty and traditions all across America. The one thing that we all have in common is that even though our country is not without its flaws; we live in a free society and have the ability to celebrate where, how and with whom we choose. That alone is worth celebrating.
Happy Birthday America!!!
