Oregon Coast Road Trip; Top 5

Oregon Coast Road Trip; Top 5

1. Oregon Blueberry Picking;

On the Oregon Coast, one of my kid’s favorite things was picking blueberries at a U-pick Blueberry Farm. Southern Oregon is the best place to find U-pick farms and we found ours on the coast along HWY 101. They give you buckets and you can fill them with as many berries as you’d like. You pay by the pound and you can taste the berries as you go. My kids ate their weigh in berries by the time they are done. The berries kept for about 10 days in the fridge and we froze a bunch to use later.

2. Jerry’s Rouge River Jets;

This was super fun. We did the 104 mile trip and it was wild. We took three of our kids; the youngest at the time was four. It is crazy because you go so far up the river and sometimes are in just inches of water. There is also quite a bit of white water. You stop for lunch and for a snack, so you get breaks from being on the boat along the way.

3. Bandon;

We stayed in Gold Beach, however, we went up the road to Bandon twice. I really loved the beach in Bandon. It was just SO pretty. I also really loved their downtown, it was so quaint with the cutest little shops and restaurants. Next time we go to the Oregon Coast, we will likely stay in Bandon.

4. Costal Mist;

Costal Mist is the most amazing artisan chocolate shop that is located in Bandon. We went here twice. They have amazing hot chocolate, desserts, sandwiches and amazing handmade chocolates. We tried so many of them, they were all good, however our favorite hands down is Yuzu. It is amazing. We have even ordered them since we’ve been home. Even if you don’t get to Oregon, you should still consider ordering their chocolates.

5. Port Orford;

We loved this cool little fishing town. We really enjoyed going down to the docks and looking at all of the fishing boats. We also LOVE the Cape Blanco Lighthouse which is located just outside of town. It is so well maintained and you can climb up to the top of the lighthouse and see the lens. My kids loved it. Finally, our favorite fish and chips is also located in Port Orford. Its the called The Crazy Norwegians and its amazing.
